A True American Story
Our story is rooted in grit, resilience, and reinvention. In the 1920s, our grandfather "Swag" started in Beaver, Pennsylvania, selling potatoes door to door: first with a wheelbarrow, then with a truck. His big break came when he approached U.S. Steel for a job. After a promising interview, they asked if he could play golf. He couldn’t, but he learned, knowing it was the key to unlocking opportunity.

1952
Swag Purchases B.M. Kramer
"Swag" acquires B.M. Kramer.
1964
The Building
Swag purchases the B.M. Kramer building from Thomas Mellon Evans. The property originally housed a Christian Moerlein brewing facility, which closed in 1919, before later becoming home to Bailey, Farrell & Co. Manufacturing, owned by Crane Valve.
1974
Like Father, Like Son
Swag's son "Biff" Swager begins full-time employment with B.M. Kramer, moving from the warehouse into the office to begin in sales.
1980
Passing the Torch
Swag passes at the age of 62 and Biff becomes President.
1985
Industrial Pivot
Multiple steel mills close in the area, causing an industrial decline. The B.M. Kramer team realigns its customer base and expands verticals to adapt.
2007
Like Father, Like Son (Part 2)
Biff's son Henry Swager joins B.M. Kramer full time.
2020
Supply Chain Challenges
The world shuts down due to COVID, causing the B.M. Kramer team to adapt again. For this historic pivot, they prioritize stocking up their inventory to insure they can always get their customers what they need.
2021
Generational Passing of the Torch
Henry takes the helm of the family business, becoming the third generation to lead the company with a focus on data analytics and refined processes.
